Recipe for one basic batch:
- 2 1/2 C Flour
- 1/2 C Salt
- 1 TBS Alum
- 4 packs of Kool Aid powdered mix
- 2 C Boiling Water
- 3 TBS Vegetable Oil
Instructions for jarred gifts:
- Make two batches, and split each batch into 2 even
parts (so you have 4 small batches) WITHOUT yet adding
the Kool Aid packets!
- Have 8
packets of Kool Aid ready, grouped into two each of the
same flavor/color (2 red, 2 yellow, 2 blue, and 2 green,
for example). Add two packets of the same flavor/color
of Kool Aid powder to each of the four mixtures.
-Add the finished mixtures to small decorated mason
jars, place one fun cookie cutter on each of the lids.
Put a pretty colored ribbon around each mason jar to
identify which color will "magically appear" once the
water and oil are added!
Note: Since this is a jarred gift, you will have to add
a tag, instructing to add 1/2 C Boiling Water and 3/4
TBS to each mason jar!
Place jars in a basket
for a fun and practical display!
Not only does this play dough last an incredibly long
time, the colors are vibrant and the dough smells
wonderful!
Hint: If you make three of the dough mixtures primary
colors, they can be mixed together, as your child plays
with them, to make secondary colors and some yummy scent
combinations!!
